Once upon a time there was a little Synthie. She had a cutie Aunt Nat. Well, Aunt Nat had always taken lil Synthie to the Li-barry (as momma LaLa says) and DI and to make chocolate chip cookies at her house and eat cherries from her backyard. So when lil Synthie became just Synthie, a guy named Kenters (Special K) married Aunt Nat. Well, everytime Aunt Nat came to town with Spec. K, to visit Synthie, they would dream of a week trip to Georgia to look at Aunt Nat's peapods and adorable life in the South.
Then, Synthie became big Synthie when she received her mission call to Uruguay and realized that she'd better get that plane ticket or who knows where Spec. K and Aunt Nat may be...New Zealand, Hong Kong, Columbus Ohio, or Micronesia as Missionaries. Cause Spec. K always talked about doing a mission.
So at 1:30 am Spec. K and Aunt Nat came and picked up exhausted and EFYed-out Big Synthie at the Atlanta Airport and drove her, with much tenderness to a home in the land of greenery and Crape Myrtles (trees).
8:11 am.... 9:42 am and finally 11:13 rolled around until Big Synthie rolled out of bed. Those girls at EFY had worked her over as they challenged her to all ends....specifically creating up dance moves like "Making Lemonade" and "driving Stick-shift" and the all too famous "Shopping Cart." Hence, why the hours of rest seemed to continue on! When Big Synthie finally awoke 8 hours later, Aunt Nat announced that she Synthie was "Of course totally rejuvenated because she had a whole 8 hours of sleep...", Synthie laughed.
The day pranced on as Synthie found out about every tree, population increase, climate correlation and restaurant in Warner Robins on the way to church. Synthie, of course, was doing her makeup on the way there.

Upon seeing Uncle Mark, Valerie and now grown-up younger Marc, Synthie also ran into a missionary that knew her friend and Seth Neville who grew up 10 houses down from her in C-ville. Yet, this is an uncommon thing for little Synthie, because she doesn't talk to many people. Aunt Nat was proud of her for coming outside her comfort zone!
The 1st counselor announced that a fellow ward member had just returned from "the Guff" and Synthie confusingly asked Uncle Mark what the Guff was.
He replied, "Iraq"
"But why did he call it the Guff"
"ha ha...the Gulf is what he said!"
Synthie realized that she had not spent much time in the South with ya'll. But she was eager to understand this new language.
Parmesan Chicken, fresh potatoes from the garden, heavenly Corn from Kenters and yumma brownies were devoured with pleasure. Laughter, Spiritual insights and a warmth of family was had and appreciated by everyone, especially Synthie, who has been feeling sling-shot emotions in her many life transitions.
Yes, Bob, this corn was hand-shucked! (see What About Bob, Scene 22 at Dr. Marvin's dinner table, 1997)
After giving hugs and kisses, Synthie, Aunt Nat and Kenters came in to read scriptures and talk. Aunt Nat gave a listening ear and love as Synthie talked about life and love and learning moments. Synthie kept talking and planning for the next 3 days that would be filled with joy and fun.
Please see my future blog posts to find out what happened to Spec. K, Aunt Nat and Synthie on their adventures in Georgia!
I love you all!
